I'm 22 years old. I use any pronouns, but most people call me he/him.
I've lived in Texas all my life. (Yes, I have ridden a horse. Yes, I have fired a gun. Yee haw.)
I am a geneticist, which means that I study DNA and heredity. I don't do any work with humans or animals,
though... plants are way cooler! ;p
Other than that, I'm also an ameteur game designer, actor, and musician.
I'm currently employed as a graduate researcher at Texas A&M, working towards a PhD in Genetics. Before that,
I was the co-director of the Microfarm, an urban farm that supplied free produce to students at
the University of Texas at Austin.
Research Interests
My research up to this point has centered on Panicum hallii, a relative of switchgrass.
I have studied how environmental factors like salinity, drought, and metal pollution drive evolution
in grass species, and also how we can produce sustainable materials and biofuels from grasses.
My lifelong goal is to create crop varieties that can withstand our impending climate crisis,
so that we don't have to face a starvation crisis at the same time. I'm also interested in how
we can design crops to slow down or even reverse climate change.
